Learning Disability – Senior Support Worker

Salary: £26,263 per annum (£13.65 per hour) + overtime + sleep in allowance + £350 welcome bonus

Location: Newburn, Newcastle Upon Tyne

Hours: 37 hours per week over a 7-day rota

Drake House is a new purpose-built supported living complex, comprising of 15 self-contained apartments for adults who have mental health issues, learning disabilities and/or autism. We work hard to enable the adults who we support to live as independently as possible within their own home and to reach their full potential.

Working with other professionals, we help and encourage the people who use our service to maintain their tenancy and independence. We work with individuals to develop personal support plans to allow them to achieve their own goals and aspirations. We encourage every individual to develop the life skills they need to maintain their independence and individuality; to gain confidence in their ability to make their own decisions and choices, and be full, active and equal members of the community.

The Role 

We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and experienced Senior Support Worker to join us at Drake House. As a Senior Support Worker, this role will involve leading, supporting and supervising the staff team.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have previous experience of supporting adults with mental health issues, learning disabilities and/or autism.
  • Have previous experience of working with substance misuse.
  • Be committed to providing a high-quality service, focussed on developing people’s social and practical living skills.
  • Have previous experience of supervising a staff team.
  • Have the ability to motivate staff.
  • Possess excellent communication skills.
  • Possess a Diploma level 3 in Health and Social Care or an equivalent qualification.
